Adopt A Road
The "Adopt-a-Road" Program is a volunteer litter prevention program for Florida's county roads. It is an extension of the Florida Department of Transportation's Adopt-A-Highway Program.
We have participated in the local program run by the Marion County Public Works Department for the past four years. Our’s is a two-year commitment to pick up litter four times a year (once each quarter). Our Adopted Road is a stretch of County Road 42, from the First Baptist Church at 16523 SE 76th Chatham Avenue, to State Road 301. Marion County supplies all the necessary materials (gloves, work aprons, litter pickup tools, etc) for each scheduled event.
Each quarter, our members willingly volunteer their time to make this program a success.
Our program coordinator is Ted Bristol.
